Sinkhole Detection to identify sink areas is a new feature added to its Land Displacement Monitoring service.

FREMONT, CA: Synspective, a SAR satellite data and analytic- solution provider releases Sinkhole Detection Feature which predicts ground sinking area.

In recent years, sinkholes have been happening in various places around the globe. These sinkholes are often created by human activities (underground tunneling, oil/gas pumping, underground coal drilling, groundwater pumping, etc.). When these sinkholes generate in residential areas, they can cause significant harm to buildings and sometimes even loss of life.

The sinkhole identification function developed by Synspective is a unique prediction algorithm that leveraged data science and machine learning to the couple and detected the features of spatial and temporal variations. With this technology, it is possible to find areas where sinkholes are likely to happen in advance, areas where cave-ins have occurred, and areas where cave-ins are in progress after they have happened.

This function will be deployed in Land Displacement Monitoring, and a solution service announced last year evaluates ground deformation over a wide area using satellite data. The input data is automatically updated, and the platform manages the processing and analysis of the complex satellite imagery. Since it can be viewed in a web environment, it can be analyzed at any time from the office as well as from the field. The Synspective Land Displacement Monitoring service originates from InSAR analysis that can find timely vertical land displacement in millimeters over a wide area. This Service allows periodical observation and understanding of land subsidence and deformation.

Besides, remote area/site surveying can be extremely needed in disaster-struck areas where human access is limited or dangerous or where social movement is restricted due to the COVID-19 impact. Synspective offers this solution on a subscription basis through a SaaS format.
